Welcome to Living Word Ministries.

Living Word Ministries is a non-denominational, family oriented ministry focused on Yahshua (Jesus) as the Messiah (Savior) of the world. We study and teach Christianity from the perspective of its first century, Biblical, Hebraic context. Accredited by the Hebraic Christian Global Community, we are a Community of Welcome, Fellowship, Study and Prayer. We open our arms to every believer, regardless of race, ethnicity, economic status or denominational affiliation. Prejudice or limitation of an individual because of the way the Lord created that person is not Biblical, Christian, nor consistent with the teachings of Yahshua. All are welcome here in the name of the LORD and all are encouraged to involve themselves in ministry, both inside and outside the congregation. Most of the world is hurting and searching for answers. We know Who is the answer and Who has the answers. We teach that a relationship with Yahshua (Jesus) is the answer and, as a result, we have seen lives dramatically changed, marriages saved, and people healed spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically.

More than 30 years ago we started our journey studying the Hebrew Roots of our faith. We soon realized that we were only scratching the surface in discovering the treasures hidden in the Bible, and that to better understand the depth and breadth of the Bibles message, a knowledge of what life was like 2000+ years ago was a must. The Bible was written with a Middle Eastern mindset and we are typically trained to read, reason and think from a Greco-Roman perspective. Studying the Scriptures in their Hebraic context not only brings new meaning and deeper understanding, but bridges the gap between Yahshua and where we are today. Realizing this, we set out to understand a culture that no longer exists and is rarely taught in the world today. We studied Israel’s geography, culture, language, family life styles, correct history, Jewish idioms (slang terms), poetry, customs, politics and much more! Our understanding of the Bible was enriched. The perplexing phrases, puzzling actions, the sometimes difficult-to-understand words of Yahshua, the unconventional Feasts and parables came alive with deeper meaning and understanding. We learned about the pattern of worship the LORD wants His people to follow, and the prophetic nature of the Feasts of the LORD. We learned many things that has made the words of Yahshua more meaningful and clearer. As a result, we changed our worship services and lifestyles to become more biblical—the way it was intended. Our whole objective is to bring us into a closer relationship with our Savior by learning as much about Him as we can, through the people and time period in which He lived. It binds the Old and New Testaments together and further shows the relevance of the Bible to today’s modern problems and lifestyles.

Living Word is not alone in this change. We are part of a world-wide Holy Spirit inspired movement that reunites Christianity with its Biblical roots, reestablishing many concepts, teachings, interpretations and ideas that were lost or changed by man. Not only is it the fastest growing movement in the world today, but is a refreshing and exciting way to study the Bible.

The last century was one of restoration within the Body of believers. The manifestation of the Holy Spirit throughout the world began in earnest during the early 1900s with the Holy Spirit revival and continued through the 1930s. We saw the growth of freedom in worship of the LORD during the 1960s and 1970s. Since the 1980s interest in the Hebraic Roots of the Church has skyrocketed. More churches today are celebrating Passover than ever before and a growing number are interested in the other Feasts of the LORD. Why? We believe that this is part of the LORD’s plan to prepare the Church for His return.

Yahshua was a Torah observant Jewish rabbi who went to the synagogue every Saturday. He taught from the Old Testament (Newer Testament was not written until well after His ascension into heaven), and He observed the feasts as written in Leviticus 23 and when He returns, He will rule and reign from Mount Tzion in Jerusalem. We are in agreement with the Scriptures that long to see the Restoration of all Israel (both Jew and non-Jew) coming together in His land (Ezek. 37:15-28; Ephesians 2:11-22).

We celebrate the Feasts of the LORD as described in Leviticus 23 where the LORD emphasized they are holy convocations, these are “My Feasts” (Lev 23:1). The church, for many reasons, has corporately abandoned these convocations or set times for over 2000 years. However, in this century of restoration, these set times are being restored in congregations throughout the world. Each year thousands of believers in Yahshua from over 100 nations come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Succoth or Tabernacles, as is prophesied in Zechariah 14.

We celebrate and delight in celebrating the Sabbath (Shabbat). God chose the seventh day to rest. He blessed and sanctified that day and commanded us to honor the Sabbath in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8). We can worship on any day and every day but we must honor the Sabbath. Yahshua honored and worshiped on the seventh day (Sabbath) and the practice continued under the new covenant (New Testament) in the book of Acts (Acts13:14, 27, and 42). We are not “legalistic” regarding this day, but have found that this “set apart” time with our LORD and our families provides a peace and calm beyond all understanding and allows us an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with the LORD and our families.

We often use the term Yahshua instead of Jesus because that is His Name. The name Jesus did not become popular until approximately 400 years ago with the publication of the King James Version of the Bible. Prior to that time (for more than 1600 years) the name Yahshua was used in the Scriptures and in common language. We also use the personal name of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob which is Yahueh (Yah way). The Scriptures are clear that in the end times this Covenantal Name will be restored and its use is growing worldwide. The relationship between Yahueh and Yahshua becomes clear and fulfills Scripture—“Blessed is He Who comes in the Name of Yahueh.” We are not being legalistic but attempting to restore truth.
