Mission Statement

Emerald Coast Rescue Mission strives to serve the Lord through all of its services. The aim of the Mission is to “Demonstrate God’s Goodness by Providing Rescue and Recovery Services in Jesus’ Name.”

Our Statement of Faith

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the deity and humanity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His blood shed, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present rule as Head of the Church and in His personal return in power and glory.
  • We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, with equality across race, gender and class differences.

Emergency Shelter

Emerald Coast Rescue Mission, a ministry of Waterfront Rescue Mission, believes that everyone deserves a safe, warm place to sleep and since 1985 the Emerald Coast Rescue Mission has provided such a place right here in Fort Walton Beach. Every night, hundreds of men and women seek refuge at one of the Mission’s shelters. In 2013 alone, the Emerald Coast Rescue Mission provided over 10,000 nights of safe shelter to homeless men and more than 32,000 meals to the hungry in our community.

Emergency shelter guests can stay overnight at the Mission for three nights a month and receive a safe place to sleep, a nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner, a shower and fresh clothing.

Recovery Program

Emerald Coast Rescue Mission offers a Rescue and Addiction Recovery Program for men. The highly structured program’s curriculum, teachings and individual and group counseling are firmly rooted in the Gospel. The program offers opportunities for personal and spiritual enrichment and helps in dealing with the life-dominating issues that have led to their addictions. All rescue and recovery services are offered free of charge.

Men seeking to learn how to live their life free from addiction must interview to enter the program. Once accepted, they will begin their journey to recovery at the Emerald Coast Rescue Mission in Fort Walton Beach. The program is divided into two phases. Phase One, which lasts three months, offers a rigorous Bible-based curriculum, individual and group counseling, and a work experience program to help men start to rebuild their lives. In Phase Two, which lasts four months, they move to New Hope Home for Men in Gulf Breeze, where in addition to counseling and work therapy, participants work one-on-one with chaplains to address the life-dominating issues that have led to their addiction. Some men are also able to work towards obtaining their GED.

New Hope Home for Women

Any woman who wishes to overcome her addiction has an opportunity to enter the program, which is located at the New Hope Home for Women in Pensacola. In Phase One, each woman receives an Individualized Recovery Plan created personally for her to help her overcome her addiction and the debilitating life issues that drive and accompany addiction. The initial recovery program utilizes individual and group counseling, a work experience program, and group classes to facilitate a holistic healing and realistic growth process
